More than one hundred transactions since 1996.
Private equity investments, management buyouts, startups, retail and entertainment ventures, market-entry strategies, joint ventures, alliances, corporate roll-ups, mergers and acquisitions, and real estate investments, in the United States and internationally.
Pierpont has completed multiple monetizations since its founding — companies built, positioned, and sold to strategic acquirers or taken to public markets. The office has a consistent record of successful corporate exits.
Dr. LaPier spent seven years as Senior Managing Director of the private investment affiliate of the Bechtel family — one of the largest privately held companies in the United States — where he arranged and managed joint ventures, acquisitions, corporate and partnership alliances, and real estate investments, initiating and negotiating complex transactions with board members, chief executives, chief financial officers, and government ministers.
Before Bechtel, he served seven years as Partner and Managing Director of Colony Ventures Group, a merchant banking and real estate investment firm. Earlier in his career he was a Senior Vice President at Wells Fargo, then Dominion Bankshares, and an Assistant Vice President at BankAmerica, then Security Pacific, in their investment and mortgage banking groups.
The point of the sequence is that Pierpont was not a first venture. It was founded by someone who had already carried the accountability twice.
